Pension schemes plan to increase engagement

The National Association of Pension Funds engagement survey of pension schemes managing assets worth nearly £200 billion has found that 49% of pension schemes plan to increase their scrutiny of fund managers as a result of the economic crisis.

Other survey findings include:

78% will spend more time reviewing fund managers reporting
57% will pay more attention to votes cast
93% delegate engagement to fund managers, with 44% having a policy of direct engagement
The use of the Institutional Shareholders’ Committee principles has increased to 51% from 33% in 2008
