Definition of profit forecastProfit forecast: A forecast by the directors of a company of the profits to be expected in a stated period. Explicit profit forecasts are unusual in the UK except perhaps in support of a flotation or a bid defence, when they are accompanied by an accountant's report. In the US, there is a legal safe harbour for forward looking information and some companies routinely disclose forecast profits. See our full Online Financial Glossary |
