Definition of ETF
Exchange Traded Fund. An ETF allows small investors to track indices and buy into them through shares and units. Shares are available on the open market and can be bought and sold for cash, just like the shares in an investment trust. By purchasing shares investors can, in effect, buy precise amounts of the index they want to track.
